Demian Maia defeated Mario Miranda at the UFC 118 and it was a domination to say the least. Maia’s ground game was superior to Miranda’s and he used it extensively to prove why he is one of the best BJJ fighters out there. It was hard not to think if any of his aggression was going to Miranda’s teammate Anderson Silva, who defeated Maia last time they met. What matters most, however, is that Demian Maia came away with a victory.

Randy Couture will be the first MMA fighter to face off against a true professional boxer on August 28th, 2010. This UFC 118 event is already packed with some great fights, but this one stands out, simply because the MMA vs Boxing bickering has been going on for a long time now. Death Clutch, owned by Brock Lesnar, released a new MMA shirt titled “Crows and Sword”. This sword on the front of the shirt reminds us of the one that Brock has on his chest. It is piercing through a skull of a warrior’s head wearing a helmet. The trees in the background also look like cracks in the ground, giving this a very unique and cool look. The crows, spread out all over the shirt, are circling around the main design.

Kenny Florian will be facing off against Gray Maynard at the UFC 118 on August 28th, 2010. This fight is no regular fight, as the winner will become the #1 contender for the UFC Lightweight Championship Belt. If Kenny wins, he will have to face off against either BJ Penn or Frankie Edgar, who are also fighting at this event.
It is hard not to root for Kenny, as he has been one of the most respected fighters in UFC, and not just because of his excellent MMA skills. Kenny is involved other aspects of the sport, ranging from commentating fights, making appearances on national TV as a spokesman for MMA, and opening a mixed martial arts academy in Brookline, Massachusetts.
